audience research / profile
the audience i have chosen for this project (3D Level design) that is a gender neutral which is suitable for 12-15 year olds. it is important to do this research so that i can see what the target audience for my survey prefers. i want to make sure that they take interest in what i am creating and i want to make sure my ideas are appealing to others. By doing research on target audience it will help me keep track with the information i get from the survey.
survey questions / thought process
the audience i have chosen for this project (3D Level design) that is a gender neutral which is suitable for 12-15 year olds. it is important to do this research so that i can see what the target audience for my survey prefers. i want to make sure that they take interest in what i am creating and i want to make sure my ideas are appealing to others.
By doing research on target audience it will help me keep track with the information i get from the survey. the results on my survey can be seen above. jasmine and i got jasmine's younger siblings to answer all of the questions on the quiz.
question #1: how old are you?

I wanted to make sure that the results i had were from people in the age group that i am looking for that fits my target audience (12-15). This is important as i want the most accurate response from the right age group.
instead of asking if they were between the ages of 12 to 15 I asked for their exact age so that I knew more clearly the exact age of the people who were answering my questions. jasmine and i got jasmine's younger siblings to answer the questions on the quiz. This is important as i want the most accurate response from the right age group.
question #2: what do you like to do in your spare time?
i wanted to know more about the people answering the quiz so by having this question it will help me not only get to know the age group better, but to get to know my target audience better too.

i want to know more about the people answering this quiz as i want to see if they play a lot of games in their spare time.

this is because i wanted to see if they have other activities that could distract them from playing video games. this is because i want to know if the target audience would play my game on a daily and / or weekly basis or if they would not have the time to play my game.
the results such as 'play games' and 'video games' are perfect for the people i want playing my games because it shows that it will keep them interested in whatever i create due to it being something in which they would enjoy interacting with.
question #3: how would you describe yourself in one word?

i wanted to know what the 12-15 year olds thought of themselves personally so that i could make my level design more interesting to my target audience.
i wanted to fid out if the target audience considered themselves gamers as it would be important to have my target audience consider themselves as gamers or anything else that would help benefit me when it comes to making my game.
i found that the results were very useful as i had 'nerd' and 'determined' as two of the answers. these are good results because i want my target audience to think positively about themselves and the words they re using to describe themselves are great traits of someone i want as part of my target audience.
question #4: what is most important to you?
i wanted to know more about the people answering the quiz so by having this question it will help me not only get to know the age group better, but to get to know my target audience better too.

i want to know more about the people answering this quiz as i want to see if they play a lot of games in their spare time.

question #5: what / who inspired you?

i wanted to know who inspired the people who were answering the questions on my survey because i want to know what people from 12-15 are inspired by as they are much younger than i am.
it was interesting to see that one of the answers was 'jacksepticeye' as he is a well known youtuber who plays many games and records himself reacting and reviewing games.
question #6: what / who inspires you?
i wanted to know more about this because i wanted to know if people had a particular person or game that inspires them.
i also wanted to know this information as i knew it could help with marketing as if they were inspired by a youtuber or by a company that makes particular games, we could contact them and they could help promote a game.

sadly, none of them mentioned that they were inspired by youtubers or by a particular company, but they did mention video games.
question #7: what do you like most in video games?

i wanted to know their answer to this question as i wanted to see what my target audience liked to see and experience during a video game.
this is because many people who play video games have similar and different preferences when it comes to the types of themes and genres. for example, someone may like to play an rpg western game while others may not.
this information from the survey is useful as it will help me determine what my target audience prefers.
question #8: what do you hate in video games?
i wanted to know more about this because it will once again help me determine what my target audience prefers.

i know that there will be particular things my target audience doesn't like,, but i know that it will help me with how to make my level design more likeable for others to play and enjoy.

'hard shooting games' are understandable to not like because it can be too difficult to play so i understand why they would dislike playing those types of games.
question #9: what do you play games on?

this was a multiple choice question and the results were very interesting. i wanted to find out what type of platform my target audience plays on.

it was good to see that people play on consoles such as 'xbox 360' and 'xbox one'. this will help us determine what the best platforms will be for when we make out game.
question #10: what do you think of our game idea?
i asked this question to my target audience because i wanted to know their opinion for my game and two of the results said that the game idea sounded 'cool'.

i'm happy to here this as it has made me feel more confident for when i make my game.

question #11: what would you like to see in the game?

the results were interesting as the answers i got from the survey were similar to each other.

these results would help me with adding particular elements to my level design. I will consider making some of the assets that they are suggesting as it will help make my level design.
question #12: what do you like about the game idea?
i asked my target audience what they like about my idea out of interest and the results i had were great.
two of the people who answered the question like the idea of my level design having inspiration from Japanese culture, yet one of the people who answered the question didn't particularly like my idea.

i will keep this in mind, but i will stick to my idea as the majority liked my idea.
question #13: what do you dislike about the game idea?

the results i had from my question was really good!
they all liked my game idea, but one of them did suggest to make it 'online' and they mentioned about the 'lights give people fits' so i will take this in mind for people with epilepsy.
to prevent people with epilepsy from being hurt due to my level design. i will add a warning for people to be well aware of my level design.
question #14: anything to add?
i wanted my target audience to have a chance to add any other suggestions which may be useful for me just in case there were any answers i missed out.

i have previously taken on the suggestion about adding a warning for epileptics. i will also consider adding a map of the city to help guide people around my level design.

conclusion
i will use this information that i have gotten from this survey to help me improve my level design for when i start production. this is because i now understand my target audience a lot more better personally.
